JM Raffault Clos d'Isoré Vintages

One of Chinon's oldest domaines, Jean-Maurice Raffault is run by the affable Rodolphe Raffault who joined the family company in 1997 after completing his winemaking diploma in Burgundy.

Its holdings stretch to 50ha in the appellation and most of them (35ha in 2021) are certified organic with the rest in conversion. Following through to the winery, there's a low intervention approach here with no sulphur used at all in the Clos de L'Hospice cuvée.

The focus is on single-site Cabernet Franc and the styles are on the riper side of Chinon. The Clos d'Isoré and Les Picasses tend to offer medium-term drinking while Les Galuches is for drinking young.
